SCBWI Connects

So many creators of children’s books have risen to the call for help from teachers and parents during the COVID-19 crisis by creating online materials that will entertain, instruct, and inspire children and young people. Some are reading their books and discussing them. Some have created mini lessons on art or history or craft projects. Some are doing the equivalent of a school visit with a presentation and slide show.

SCBWI would like to help keep you and your work in the public conversation during this period by publicizing whatever you are doing to reach out to children and young people. We’re compiling a directory of what our published members are making available online. We will send out this directory widely, and publicize its availability across our large social media platform.

If you would like to be listed, fill out the following form before Thursday, March 19: https://bit.ly/33nFcsE

Here is an example of the sort of thing you might post about:

NAME: Lin Oliver

CONTENT: A daily live reading of two chapters from my Fantastic Frame series. Comedy, art history, adventure.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Chapter Book readers, first to fourth grade

WHERE: YouTube, under LIN OLIVER FANTASTIC FRAME. Posted each day starting March 20, at 11 AM PT.

WEBSITE: linoliver.com. (I will respond to questions left there.)

We are doing all we can to get the word out about how our members are offering to help and reaching out to our readers. The first directory will go out this Friday, and every Friday thereafter. Send your information for the week by Thursday.

Stay well.
