  • a desk and office space if needed, shared with TasWriters.

  • distribution of pamphlets through libraries.

In addition they will check all our members' books are held by the State Library system. including,

  • e-books.

  • books illustrated by Tasmanians but written by mainland writers.

Discussions are continuing with opportunities for creative partnerships being explored. Watch this space!

Our first event in this fabulous new space was an evening with the Story Whisperer, Stephanie Owen Reeder, who led us through a lively discussion on her journey through the publishing industry and the background of many of her stories.

Congratulations Hobart, Tasmania now a UNESCO City of Literature

Hobart authors, illustrators and readers have gained global recognition; Hobart is now part of UNESCO’s cities of excellence, in the field of literature.

Tasmania is a small state with a small population but is home to some of the best authors and illustrators in Australia. It is also home to some of the country's lowest literacy rates.

SCBWI Tasmania, as part of its submission, emphasised the role our members will play in addressing this gap in Hobart and throughout Tasmania while enjoying new creative opportunities to further their careers.
