CBCA Big Book Day Out Sept 13, 2015

This was the second BBDO and it was even bigger and better than last year. The sun was shining, the cupcakes were colourful and the sausages were sizzling on the BBQ. It was a day of books, writers, illustrators and families in the grounds of the NSW Writers Centre, Rozelle.

SCBWI had a stand with the brilliant Marjorie Crosby-Fairall, Aura Parker and Ben Johnston wowing passers by with their wonderful illustrations. Beside them were authors Margaret Roc, Therese Waters, Lesley Gibbs, Monica Lizama, Georgie Donaghey, Penny Morrison and Deborah Abela.

Congratulations to the CBCA, especially Dot Tonkin and Gail Erskine for juggling all that needs to be juggled to make such a successful day. This is a brilliant way to connect kids and families with writers and illustrators and have fun on a perfect Sydney spring day.

Join the fun of a Book Launch, see some illustrators in action, relax in the story tent, try your hand at craft and dress up for the book parade. Have a book signed and chat to an author. There's face-painting and a jumping castle, and great coffee, cakes and BBQ treats on-hand to buy. Plus prizes to be won on the day. Bring a picnic rug and your fave books to be signed.

Connect to reading at the Big Book Day Out, a fun event. Meet your favourite authors, relax in the story tent, witness children's illustrators in action, participate in the Costume Parade, try your hand at craft and enjoy the sunshine.

Bring a picnic rug and your camera, there will be coffee, cakes, gelato and a sausage sizzle available on the day.
